We Will…We Will… Grade You!

————————————–

I’m crazy about hubspot.com’s graders for websites and
twitter accounts. Now they’ve got a blog grader and I had to try it out.
Here’s some of what I found.

Some very interesting results here. Wonder how different this will be
next month? [Come back and I'll be showing you.]

My friend Todd is a popular local blogger and has fingers in many pies,
so to speak, and has a content rich sort of blog. Score 33?

Sorry Todd, but while you’re turning into the running man be thinking
of ways to enhance you grade. Don’t want you to have to repeat or go to
summer school.

Ms Miriam. Awesome gal that’s definitely a head above the rest. Career
counseling master, excellent blogger, but still a relatively weak score in this model.
It’s close enough to pass because of outstanding extra credit and good attendance.

Ah ha. Now I begin to see the flaws. This blog is one of mine, so I
know all about it. It’s a clients site that I installed, developed, and
host so I know how little is actually behind the curtain. I put this up only weeks ago
and have not polished it up enough to really push yet, but we still are
receiving a surprisingly good score. I’ll push this baby into a solid B before you
know it!

Now this is where it gets crazy. I wanted to run punkrockHR.com and
I typed PR by mistake. I still got a score of 17 EVEN THOUGH THE DOMAIN
DOES NOT EXIST! The Domain is still unregistered as you can see below!
Still some bugs in the grader I’d say. – grain of salt comes to mind.

Now here’s the actual site I’d meant to run, and I can see a decent result.
Fancy pants punker still wouldn’t be too keen on a grade of 79. Oh well. Next.

This was a big surprise as Stephanie Lloyd of RadiantVeracity has a
well established blog with mega-content and sweet little elves juicing
her site with every trick known to interns. On the web however there’s
always more to be done. The hurrier I go, the behinder I get!

Now for another interesting twist. This is a blog, but the ‘machine’
doesn’t think so. There’s always some wrinkles for developers to work out. Still quite
a powerful free tool to get ideas on improving your blog.

Can anyone knock it outta the park, and hit a big score? Let’s see…
Now if you want to copy from the best you need to have a look at Seth
Godin. Finally a solid A+ score from a real virtuoso. Still, if one wants
to pick, there’s likely some 12 year old girl blogging her wisdom with a 99.6 score
somewhere. Just sayin’.

OK, I’m including just 2 more that interest me, and are also surprising.

OK bloggers and blogees, play with this new toy for a bit and we’ll read chapter 2 for next time.  I will also want to warn you that the tool/site is a little buggy at present and may deliver more errors than you are use to. I’m sure it’s being addressed at hubspot.

Well I cant find the site anylong and figure that the hubspot folks have their hands too full with the mad variety of other projects they have going – maybe theyll get back to this and have a better tool. What do you expect for free huh?
